Inferius is an xpwn-like tool to create & restore custom IPSWs to 64-bit devices.
Its current purpose is to downgrade devices (vulnerable to checkm8) to previous iOS versions. However, there are other possible uses for this tool as well.
Notes and Caveats
Before using Inferius, keep in mind that
- No one but YOU is fully responsible for any data loss or damage caused to your device
- Downgrades are currently limited to versions compatible with the latest signed SEP version.
- Due to the downgrades being tethered, after restoring a custom IPSW you must patch the bootchain & send it to your device over pwned DFU manually to boot, as described here, or use one of these tools to automate the process for you:
- Ramiel
- checkra1n
- PyBoot
- ra1nsn0w
By default, firmware bundles are automatically downloaded from an external repo. However, if there isn’t a firmware bundle for the device+iOS version combo you’re attempting to downgrade to, you’ll need to create your own using bundlegen.
Pull requests for new firmware bundles are welcome, as long as the firmware bundle you want to add can create a usable IPSW for the targeted version.

- At least 10gbs of free space on your computer
- An Internet connection
- A 64-bit device (vulnerable to checkm8)
- A firmware bundle for your device & the iOS version to be downgraded to
- If there isn’t a firmware bundle for your device + iOS version combo, look at bundlegen
- futurerestore must be compiled with my fork of img4tool, or else it can’t be used with Inferius.

Инструмент Inferius позволяет создавать кастомные IPSW для восстановления
На днях вышел новый инструмент Inferius, который позволяет создавать кастомные IPSW-файлы и восстанавливаться с них. Перед тем, как приступать к работе с инструментом, лучше о нём почитайте.
Возможность восстановления с кастомного IPSW открывает много возможностей, в том числе и возможность отката до старых версий iOS и iPadOS, которые больше не подписываются Apple. Однако есть и несколько нюансов, которые стоит отметить.
Инструмент Inferius работает только на 64-битных iPhone и iPad, которые поддерживают эксплойт checkm8. Соответственно, инструмент поддерживает все те же устройства, что и джейлбрейк checkra1n. Это модели с iPhone 5s до iPhone X.
Кроме того, устройства с кастомными IPSW нужно будет запускать через компьютер каждый раз после отключения и перезагрузки с помощью инструментов PyBoot или ra1nsn0w. Инструмент использует полу-привязанный эксплойт, как и джейлбрейк checkra1n. Некоторых пользователей такой расклад не устроит, а другие и так используют компьютер для загрузки из-за наличия джейлбрейка.
Пока что Inferius поддерживает только macOS, и непонятно, появится ли у него поддержка других операционных систем. Кроме того, инструмент не для новичков, он подходит только опытным пользователям. Его использование несёт за собой потенциальные осложнения и риски. Вот что пишет разработчик:
При восстановлении с кастомных IPSW убедитесь, что эти IPSW-файлы сделаны с помощью инструмента недавно. Устаревшие IPSW могут привести к возникновению проблем. Inferius скачивает LLB и iBoot из подписываемых версий, а затем вставляет их в кастомный IPSW.
Я не несу ответственности за потерю данных, проблемы с вашим устройством или что-то другое, связанное с использованием Inferius. Вы принимаете все риски при использовании инструмента.
Если вы не знаете, как работать с командной строкой, а также незнакомы с механизмом восстановления прошивки, мы не рекомендуем использовать инструмент. По крайней мере для начала хорошенько изучите его работу. Больше информации вы найдёте здесь.
